As a writer, you have an editor mode and creative mode. But if you know you have a dedicated editor, it will be easier to stay in creative mode. It is of paramount importance to learn proper punctuation right off the bat, but nothing can replace the expertise and distance that an additional set of eyes can offer. So go out there and get a good editor.
